  • Skiing in different ski areas across Tyrol and Vorarlberg
  • A cosy hotel in Zams with breakfast, dinner, spa and pools.
  • Alpine atmosphere and culture

Programme

Every day we ski a different ski area, chosen for the quality of its pistes and its unique atmosphere. The programme is flexible and can be adapted to the weather and the group’s preferences.

Day-by-day programme:

  • Day 1: St. Anton am Arlberg is considered the cradle of Alpine skiing – it was here, in 1921, that Hannes Schneider founded the famous “Arlberg” ski school, laying the foundations of modern ski technique. The resort is part of Ski Arlberg – the largest linked ski area in Austria and one of the largest in the world, with 300 km of marked pistes and 200 km of off-piste/freeride terrain, served by 85 lifts and cable cars. The area mainly suits advanced and experienced skiers – many of the runs are red and black, with famous steep and technical descents (such as the legendary Valluga), but there are also enough blue runs for beginners in the lower, quieter sections. The area is also linked with Lech and Zürs, so you can ski between several elite resorts without changing your lift pass.
  • Day 2: Lech am Arlberg, founded back in the 14th century, has become one of the most prestigious ski resorts in the world and a favourite of European aristocrats and celebrities. Together with neighbouring Zürs, Lech is part of the Arlberg ski area, with over 300 km of pistes linked by a shared network of modern lifts. The area mainly suits beginners and intermediate skiers – blue and red runs predominate, and the best-known route is the “White Ring”, a 22-kilometre circuit linking Lech, Zürs, Zug and Oberlech. For more experienced skiers the resort offers excellent freeride and heli-skiing, while its refined atmosphere and high-end hotels make it one of the most elegant resorts in the Alps.
  • Days 3 and 4: Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis brought three separate villages together into one ski area in 1999 and today is the largest ski resort in Tyrol, regularly ranked among the best family ski destinations in the world. The area offers around 190–200 km of pistes with a vertical drop of over 1,500 m, of which roughly 41 km are blue, 119 km red and 22 km black – a clear bias towards runs for beginners and intermediate skiers. Serfaus is also known for its unique underground metro, which silently carries skiers straight to the lifts – cars are not allowed in the village. Thanks to its varied terrain and sunny weather (over 2,000 hours of sunshine a year), the resort is a favourite for relaxed, comfortable skiing.
  • Day 5: Ischgl lies in the Paznaun valley, Tyrol, and together with the Swiss village of Samnaun forms the shared Silvretta Arena ski area – which makes Ischgl one of the few resorts where you ski in both Austria and Switzerland, crossing the border directly by lift. The area offers around 239 km of pistes – roughly 20 blue, 40 red and 25 black – suitable both for beginners and for more experienced skiers looking for dynamic skiing. Ischgl is also known for its motto “Relax if you can” – the resort is one of the most iconic après-ski destinations in the Alps, with plenty of bars right by the pistes, where the party often starts in the afternoon while skiers are still in their ski boots. Samnaun is also a duty-free shopping zone, which makes the day in Ischgl a varied one – pistes, mountain views and an evening party all in one.

Organisation

The group flies Sofia-Memmingen-Sofia with hand luggage only. Milena Barzanova – ski guide and organiser – travels in the BARZENA SKI minibus and carries all the participants’ luggage and ski equipment.

Flight: Sofia – Memmingen – Sofia with Ryanair.

Flight schedule

Friday 15 Jan 2027 — FR 6001 — Sofia (SOF) → Memmingen (FMM) — 16:15 – 17:20

Thursday 21 Jan 2027 — FR 6002 — Memmingen (FMM) → Sofia (SOF) — 19:55 – 22:55

  • Ticket price: around €80 (at the time of writing).

Transfer: An organised minibus meets the group at Memmingen airport and takes it back there at the end. The minibus carries all the luggage and ski equipment to and from Bulgaria and drives us to the ski areas every day.

Accommodation:  double rooms in a cosy hotel in Zams

The hotel has four stars but feels like five — or so its guests say. I chose it for its spa area and its location: around 20–40 minutes from each of the ski areas we have planned, thanks to its closeness to the motorway. No time lost on the road — more time on the pistes, more time to relax.

  • Indoor pool with a waterfall and counter-current
  • Steam baths and several types of sauna
  • Gym
  • Massages and beauty treatments (extra charge)
  • Breakfast and dinner every day
  • Excellent location next to the motorway

Meals: Breakfast and dinner are included in the price and served at the hotel. Lunch is taken while skiing in the ski areas, wherever you choose.

Good to know

The safari is for ladies only and suits skiers of all levels – from intermediate to experienced. The areas are chosen so that everyone finds something for themselves – wide pistes for relaxed skiing and challenging runs for the more daring.

The ski areas are chosen according to the weather, the snow conditions and the group’s preferences. The programme is flexible and can be adapted every day for the best possible experience.

The flight ticket (around €80), lift passes (around €70–75 a day) and insurance are not included in the price. Lunch while skiing is also up to you.

The recommended flights are with Ryanair: FR on 12 Jan 2026 Sofia – Memmingen (14:05 – 15:05) and on 18 Jan 2026 Memmingen – Sofia (16:55 – 19:55). You buy your tickets individually, and the transfer to and from the airport is included in the price.

Early-bird price: €1,685 until 15 Sep 2025. Regular price: €1,800. Payment is in two instalments: a 50% deposit (€842.50) by 15 Sep 2025 and the balance (€842.50) by 22 Dec 2026.
